This GENSET comprised of 2 engines and 2 generators along with 2 enclosures that they were housed in. When packed the 2 systems were to be transported by road to Plymouth and then installed into 2 Type 23 Royal Navy Destroyers.
The client specified that we had to design the packing so that all equipment could be accessed by gantry via the lifting eyes on the equipment. Our design focus was on the engines and generators which weighed 11 and 8 tons respectively.
The equipment was raised and bolted onto steel transport frames that were made by our fabricator to our engineers drawings supplied. This design was to protect the sump areas. No forklifting was to be used.
